Slowwwwwly getting the hang of

Knitting.

I have cast on 3 times for the Summertime Tunic. The first time I realized after 10 rows that it was twisted. The second time I had just too many holes... and now for the third time around I think i got it, but i've veered off course already. I opted to use Lion Brand Baby Soft yarn. Secondly after doing 4-1/2" of knitting in the round I was suppose to switch needles (size 4) and continue for another 2" in 1x1 rib... I opted to just do purling with the size 6 needles.. so this is what I have so far.... I dropped some stitches and retrieving them was really tricky, and ended up with some weird looking stitches... Also, I'm actually enjoying the circular needles, so if my project ends up looking like a green shopping bag at least I learned how to use circulars..wooohoo.

Honestly... I may just go in search for the right yarn and start over after taking a peeksy at a Summertime Tunic Kal...

Is this the very first thing that you have knitted? I think you are doing good! Keep up the good work!

Looks good. And don't worry about the funky stitches, the tension will work itself out.

Oh, you just reminded of what it was like when I first started knitting! The frustrations! I still have them but it is not nearly as bad as it was. Sounds like you are doing great and you are plugging away. I am sure the top will look great. A good substitute for the required yarn is Debbie Bliss Cathay. That is what i am using for it. Can't wait to see it finished!

I love how you have persevered!

Looking forward to seeing it progress.

For me, I prefer circulars over straights for almost everything. I do, however, like double-pointed needles (dpn's) for small items.

You chose a great pattern too!

Thanks for the boost of confidence.
@ Adrienne - I knitted a dishcloth, and it just needs a little crochet trim around it before I give it to my mom, and the Summertime Tunic will be my second knit project.

Wow, you're doing great! It took me forever to do a top after learning to knit, so you go!

I think it's looking fantastic, esepcially for a first time knit.

Yeah for knitting! It's always a pain in the arse to learn something new. I remember I frogged my first scarf at least 4 times before I figured out what I was doing wrong. -=giggle=-

Keep up the outstanding work!
