Indecisive and ADD

Best describes my Kathmandu cardigan and other things. In my previous post I happily wrote about modifying Jean Frost's JaspeRed pattern by incorporating cables and how I'm going to do both sleeves at the same time to avoid the second sleeve syndrome. Well all of that came to a mind blowing halt when I asked my dd to try it on before doing the sleeves. Here goes the scenario....

DD: Ma! I want a vest... I don't want sleeves.

Me: what do you mean you don't want sleeves... its suppose to be a cardigan... gurl try this darn thing on and let me see whats going on here.
DD: Ooooh I can wear it like this....

Me: Its not finished!!! I have 6 ball of this yarn left what in the dickens are you talking about!

DD: Ma! you know what... I want the front closed up.

Me: *eyes bulging* Whatttttttttt!

DD: Yeah - close it up in the front and then let me try it on again.

Me: *eyes rolling* and off I go @ 7:00 a.m. to close up the front and mumbling why do I put myself through this - she tells me I stopped making clothes for her and now when I give in it becomes a big INDECISION..... sheesh.

DD: Did you close it up yet.... let me see it before you finish closing it up

Me: Gurl..... you looking for trouble and as of 7:48 a.m. this is where we left off
In my PJs, I schlepped outside with camera and mannequin in hands in 38 degree friggin' weather to take pictures as she simultaneously leaves for work.... go figure.
I decided to just leave it alone for now and directed my attention to finishing a baby blanket and scouring through my crochet mags for a baby cardigan and baby brogues.

Just as quickly my eyes drifted over to my inspiration board and I thought of all the things I want to sew and then my attention darted to the blue cardigan squashed into a bag waiting for buttons, precariously perched atop the sewing machine a blouse I'd purchased for $5.oo that I want to refashion into a dress, and my daughter's skirt waiting to be sewn.... what is it with me - can I be suffering from ADD...lol By 8:30 a.m.... I plopped down at my desk amongst my clutter and thought about laundry, Sunday dinner, cleaning the house, washing my hair and ironing my clothes for tomorrow.... Geezous.... I'm losing it....loll

Well at least you aren't cleaning out your hallway closet and the master bedroom closet so Verizon can come in and install a DSL line...I have junk everywhere! Very conducive to sewing!

BTW, I like the inspiration board. You are so much better than me, you actually cut around the pictures. Me I cut them out and blocks and stick them on anywhere!

@ Carolyn: Omgoodness I remember the day I had my DSL installed it was horrifying and I morphed into an angry black woman b/c the guy was clueless and making an even bigger mess than what I'd made.

@ Judy: Lol - Honestly my baby making days are overrrrr - tied and burned ...lol - but looking at your baby garments makes me wish I could...lol

@ Adrienne: So I'm not alone in my extreme...lol

@ Pajnstl: You are so right about that.

No, you sound quite normal to me =) This business with you Gurl is exactly why I wont be knitting any more sweaters for anyone old enough to talk back. My sister is driving me crazy and my ds makes yours look reasonable and decisive.

The rest of my day went ok - got my laundry done wooohoo!! Carolyn inspired me - I actually cleaned out my closet and organized it... lol - Took a nice long nap and as soon as my daughter returned home from work, I ventured into her abyss of a room and ranted about it not being clean & orderly and spent 2 hrs in her room making her clean it... ohhh it looks so much better ... lol. So I at least achieved something after my crazy Sunday morning.

I have to say, it looks pretty good as a vest! Hey, you won't have to do sleeves, more time for that screaming stuff on your machine. I'm glad I'm not the only one with ADD!

LOL, I think we all go through it from time to time. I love your inspiration board...really neat idea. As for dd, does she know how to knit??

Thanks All for posting.

@ Del - DD has yet to let me show her how to knit, but she does crochet.

That grape color is absolutely beautiful. I have 2 DDs who decided as teenagers they didn't want anymore "homemade" sweaters. Now they're in their 20s and constantly begging me to make stuff. Good luck with that one.

P.S. My crafting ADD began over 20 years ago & hasn't subsided yet....

You know, even though I hate the input of giftees, I kind of see her point. It even looks good halfway seemed up like that.

That vest/cardigan is really beautiful. IMO it looks terrific the way that it is. Although you'd have to like showing your belly off a little bit. -=giggle=- So that's you're secret! Waking up at the crack of dawn! That's how you get so much done. -=giggle=-
