For a moment, I thought my serger was a goner. I ended up breaking a needle and totally freaked. As I was removing the remainder of the broken needle it fell between the needle plate and I immediately unplugged it and without thinking turned the machine upside down. Thinking the remainder of the needle would fall out... What a knuckle head!!! I was... of course spools of thread rolled all over the place, leaving me with a tangled mess....ughhh!!.
Being that this would be office attire I needed a blazer and didn't have a rtw blazer that would work well with the dress, so I made a cardigan. I used New Look 6150 (oop), which consists of Misses Knit activewear garments: cardigan, tank, pants, long /mid-calf skirts.
The fabric is a dk grey/white pinstripe knit , which is lightweight and knew I needed to stabilize the neck edges and opening. For the cardigan I used ribbon along the opening and sleeve to stabilize. To prevent the neck line from gaping I used 1/2" elastic by sewing it on the right side of the fabric and folded to the inside and did another row of stitching for a neat finish.
I modified the cardigan, which had 3/4 sleeves and just cut for short sleeves. I can't believe I did this all in a day...lol
Heyyy, this could be the beginning of my June Capsule Collection!!!

You go girl!!! That looks fantastic. The new twinset indeed! And I am very jealous that you did that all in one day. le sigh...
That looks amazing! Bravo!
On the note of my interest in a sewing machine. Are there any books or videos you would recommend to a new sewer?
very sophisticated, it looks great
LUV the pinstripes!
And you look hot in it with or without the jacket!
Love the variety! :o)
You've been tagged! Pop by my blog and check it out!
Very chic, indeed!
That turned out super cute! Very nice ensemble.
Sheila you are really tearing those New Look patterns up girl friend! You look so great in everything you make and I am IMPRESSED! Lining pants is not hard at all. I used Sandra Betzina's Power Sewing Book for info and it was really easy. The capris were also made from one of her Vouge patterns and it also told how to line the pants a different way which was really a underlining technique. I'll try that way next time.
Great outfit - I love it!! I also have been going to town on my New Look pattern and knit fabric stash. Pics to come soon!
