Butterick 5146

Pattern Description: Misses Dress, Tunic, Jacket, Camisole, Skirt, Pants, and Belt.

Pattern Sizing: 16 - 22, which was the only size left and adjusted the pattern for a size 14 by taking in the side seams.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? No.

Were the instructions easy to follow? This dress consisted of 2 pieces, so it was beyond easy. My mom's favorite expression for an easy project.... "Even Ray Charles could've sewn this"...lol

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE this pattern, although my version is more of a jumper. As for dislike, this pattern doesn't have any shaping unless you use the belt.

Fabric Used: Stretch suiting - Dk Grey Pinstripe

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: This pattern went through a process of elimination. I didn't use the sleeves, facings and belt. I serged all the seams and folded the edges to the wrong side. To add a lil shaping I did back darts.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I'm already planning another one as soon as I can get to JoAnns for some more fabric. If you are looking for a jumper with a lil twist, I highly recommend this pattern to others.

Conclusion: Initially I had reservations about the ruffle blouse, but after I'd remove 4" from the hem and added the darts for a lil shaping, I must say I like the look, which is a total twist from my conservative style.

First I must say I cracked up when I read your review. When you answered "no" to the question did it look like the picture on the envelope. I was like "oh boy" but as I read on I was fine. I like it and it looks real good on you. Very jazzy and upbeat. A definite different look for you. It works! It works well I must say.

Keep it up! I love your work!

Now that I see it on I like it better with the white blouse and the gray boots, that looks really good on you. I know I'm so fickle.

Thank You All!!! I really like the look of the cream ruffled blouse and the turtleneck and agree with Liana that the jumper offers two completely different looks, which is a good thing.
