PR Day in Philly

Arrived at Penn Station, short on time and not familiar with Amtrak's departing train location, I had to make a mad dash for the train - running and asking for directions at the same time. With a few minutes to spare... like 3 minutes - I reached the escalator that would lead me to my 7:05 train, only to come to a short stop because a woman with too many bags began to panic when she got on the escalator. With that fiasco going on the amtrak worker had to stop the escalator and assist the woman back up the 4 steps! Breathless, I tried to bum rush the woman and the amtrak worker to get down the non-working escalator. The amtrak worker stopped me and instructed me to grab her bags and help the lady down the escalator. Of course, I obliged but as the woman held on to the handrail for dear life I gave her the mean side-eye and mumbling I better not miss my dayumm train. Luckily with seconds to spare I made it on the train....whew!

Andrea met me at the train station which was eerily quiet...

compared to New York's chaotic Penn Station.

Philly is so quaint and cute... Andrea and I stopped for a quick breakfast at Starbucks before heading to the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel to meet up with the other young ladies.  The weather was absolutely beautiful.

We arrived at the hotel and after greetings, quick chatter and laughter we headed to Jack B. Fabrics or is it Maxi's Daughter

Next was Albert Zoll which carried a nice array of notions, I purchased a belt kit, bathing suit hooks, and magnetic guide

On to PA Fabric Outlet, which has a larger selection of notions.  I totally overdosed on notions, stretch lace, snaps, buckles, hooks, metal boning, zippers (not shown) and purchased 2yds each of sweater fabric

At one point the line was beyond long.... but it was so worth it.

(Pictures Compliment of PatternReview)

We stopped for a quick lunch at Alyan's and enjoyed a Falalel, from there we headed to London Textiles where there were bins of fabric in 1yd - 8yds to pick from and priced from $3yd to $5yd... you would have thought we were bobbing for apples... I tell ya my arms were sore.

(Pictures Compliment of Slapdash Sewist)

Here is my haul... stripe cotton stretch shirting, printed stretch cotton for skirt and/or dress and 3 yds of black pique fabric for a jacket (not shown).

Then on to Jomars

Talk about huge.... anything and everthing to pick from...

For a brief moment I was overwhelmed... briskly walking from one aisle to the next not sure what I wanted...

I finally calmed my racing heart and slowly went down each aisle and happily left Jomars with these ...

I had such a beautiful time meeting everyone and enjoyed the shopping immensely...and Andrea, Karen, Elaray, Elaine, Annette (forgive me if I left anyone out ) you ladies totally ROCK!  You did a Fantastic job hosting PR in Philly.

Last, but not least... I Patternreview Do You?

It sounds so fun, funny story about the escalator, especially since you did not miss your train. I like all your fabric purchases.

I'm so jealous, I'm going to make it there one year. To answer your question No I do not PatternReview due to technical difficulties.

I was truly befuddled by the woman on the escalator and short on time and out of breath didn't help. However, please know it wasn't and elderly lady, my tolerance would've been on point. I was side-eyeing the young woman as she held onto the handrail with a vice grip and asking myself as we descended on the escalator what the hell is in these bags and maybe her 4" heels were the culprit...lol
