What I Wore

New Look 6853 w/ Simplicity 4273, made back in March 2011.  Of the few suits that I've made, this one is my favorite, at least for now...lol

The suit has held up very well being that it is machine washed & line dried.  However, I had to reattach the chain at the hemline... well rather reinforce the stitching, but other than that... love the suit.  Normally I prefer wearing a tank top under the jacket, but decided to wear a button-up blouse... nice diversion.  My daughter told me I look so Anita.Hill like, minus the CT drama... ummm yeah.

On the Sewing front, I've cut another Simplicity 4273, and playing 3 card monty with a few jacket patterns to pair with the pants: Vogue 1279, Simplicity 2229, & Butterick 5619.

Until then.......... Have a Great Week

This is a wonderful suit. I can see that there are umpteen ways that you could style this and it would always look fresh.

Girl,
You are about the business, for sure. Love the suit; it looks great with the button down.

I'd love a great wash and wear suit too. Is the jacket to your suit lined? What fabric is the suit made from? Gosh you look so good in everything you wear that no matter which jacket you picked it would be a winner.

That is a sharp looking suit.

Thank you.

@Cennetta, don't know what took me so long to wear a button-up blouse with the suit, but glad I did. It actually looks better with the button up than a tank top.

@Faye, the jacket is lined with a cross-stretch fabric and the fashion fabric is a burgundy denim with cross-wise stretch too.

Actually, for the last 2+ years I have been machine washing all of my poly-blend lined suits and line dry them.

Very nice! I love the 3 card monty reference too. Except in my case, it's about 103 card monty. lol And you look way better than Anita Hill, given that she was probably scared to death during her "fame."

Very classy! It was fun to take a look at the three patterns you are contemplating for your next jacket. They all look lovely. I think I would pick the Simplicity one. Can't wait to see what you choose.

Smart suit! It's funny to see in hindsight what pieces become staples that hold up well over time and what sewn items get shuffled to the back of the closet, true?
