Buckle Hat Pattern

I love winter and most importantly being able to wear hats.  Every year I crochet a new batch of hats to replace some of the old ones and to coordinate with new scarves.  My Buckle Hat has become my all time favorite and  also I've become known as the Hat Lady....lol

I received a beautiful scarf for christmas and immediately needed a hat to coordinate with it.  Luckily my daughter had a half used skein of Caron Simply Soft in melon that matched the scarf perfectly.

The pattern is quick and can be done in an evening.

This pattern works well if you prefer buttons or even a flower.  Just make a roll brim by following pattern instructions to Rnd 12 and continue pattern stitch for 8 more rounds, roll up brim, affix button or flower and presto!

Have Fun and looking forward to pics of your hat.

Simplicity 3634 Take II

Another take on Simplicity 3634 ( Misses or Plus Size Pants, Skirt, Knit Cardigan and Tops).

The first time around I went with the cowl neck, but noted that the fit of the top minus the cowl neck would make a great relaxed tee.

This top is an instant gratification garment and works well in any wardrobe, just 3 simple pieces.   All the seams were serged and for the hems used steam-a-seam and final stitched. The fabric is from MetroTextile during the last PR fabric excursion, a bold abstract print in poly-lycra fabric.  Thinking back and comparing my rtw garments to my sewn garments, I seem to play it safe with rtw garments and sticking to solid colors, but when purchasing fabric I select bold prints.... mmmm wonder why...

With a skirt and boots.... it makes for a cool smart casual look.

I am still on a cardigan kick... I believe this is my fourth cardigan this season.  This time I used Wool-Ease in Forest Green Heather and like Lion brand stated, it has the warmth of wool and the easy care of acrylic.

Initially I wore the cardigan as pictured with a solid top, thinking that wearing a printed top with the cardigan would be a bit much.  However, that quickly changed when I wanted to wear the cardigan again and decided to go the way of the wind and paired it with the printed top..

End result, both garments paired with jeans worked well together and perfect for a casual Friday.

I also worked this cardigan up using Premier yarn in burgundy (which I found out recently is produced by Deborah Norville)... whadaya know.... well off to make another S3634 to pair with this cardigan.

Until then everyone have a Great Weekend.
