Hello All

Hoping all had a fabulous Memorial Day.  I celebrated my 48th Birthday over the holiday by sewing til my heart was content and simulteneously enjoyed a great B-day celebration by my family for 4 days...lol   Yes 4 days, I took off Friday and my sister came over & got the party started.  Enjoyed myself although I had to split my time between sewing & socializing.  Thankfully family & friends know what comes first....lol

On to the sewing front, McCalls 6282: Misses lined top and dress, which I fell in love with when Lori  posted about it.

I managed to make 4 tops which after some minor modifications went together quickly.
For the top below I added sleeves after the pic was taken using sleeves from Butterick 5313, which I like to call my go-to sleeves.  The front is low and raised it by taking in the shoulder seams, thereby reducing the armhole and having to reduce the cap on the sleeve.

Outside of that, the top was a breeze.  For the second one I used the same slinky knit but in a raspberry color and also a black... sorry no pic... too many glasses of wine.

For the fourth one I sifted through my stash and found a knit mesh in a pastel floral print and decided that I wanted it sleeveless.  This fabric was purchased about 2 years ago, but wasn't confident sewing it up.  Well I think this is my favorite of the four, it's super sheer and love the drape which was perfect for 80+ temps in New York.  I paired it with Navy blue Loft pants and my favorite Lela Rose sandals from Payless.  At work during the summer almost anything goes.... well almost and enjoy that I am comfortable enough to shed my suits.

Also over the weekend, I refashioned linen pants that I'd purchased about 2 years ago from the Loft and inadvertently washed, thereby shrinking them. The shrinking worked width wise, but not length wise and decided it was time to refashion.

Remembering that I'd purchased several capris and also remembering that they worked against me and never returned, they became a victim of shortening.

The shorts are perfect for the tops I made and had a great sew-weekend.

Now I need to to focus on the dress challenge that I joined and hosted by Faye - Stay Cool - Stitch Up A Dress

Leaving you with a pic of roses that my guy picked from our rose bush, still moist from watering.

Enjoy the short Week.
