Holiday Sewing

Hello All and hoping Everyone had a Great Labor Day.  I had a great time, the family came over and we had a BBQ Saturday, filled with food, spirits, hilarious conversation and plain ol' fun.  I must admit when I woke up Sunday I spent a good deal of the day tipping around, just the sound of my own feet made me wince...lol.

After a second nap, I was able to tackle a few items on my EOTS list and manage to sew 3 garments Sunday & Monday.  This list is a way of getting my favorite summer pieces out of my system and then moving onto fall projects.

First up, is McCalls 6282: Misses' Lined Top and Dresses - Used a lightweight poly/lycra knit from my stash.  I purchased this fabric from Fulton Fabrics some time ago in a few colors and made this one & this one   earlier this summer.

Another M6262 using the same fabric above but in soft blue

Another version of the Wrap dress using my RTW Template, which I describe as a fitted wrap dress with waist seam, slightly flared skirt, V-neckline and self-fabric ties

This fabric is from my recent purchase from Fabric Sav-a-thon in a poly/spandex.  This dress is a true staple in my wardrobe and will be making more for the fall with long sleeves.

For this version, I did not use self-fabric ties for the closure, instead modified it by making buttonholes on the left and right skirt pieces just above the skirt seam line and added buttons on the undersides.

I've made this wrap dress numerous times and made minor modifications to the last two versions.  My last rendition of this dress, I modified it by omitting self-fabric ties and sewing the over lay skirt to the under skirt at the waist seam creating a faux wrap dress.

A few Pics of the various Versions of this dress:

Olive Dress
Argyle Dress
Beige stripe
Red/Black
Animal Print

The rain kept me from wearing it today and hopefully will get to wear it later this week.

Yesterday, I tried my hands at making homemade dog treats for my furry kids, after Andrea posted about making them for her furry child. I used this recipe - Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

One of two batches cooling

Savannah was ready & willing to taste the first one

Overall 2 of my 3 dogs liked them. I will try another recipe for my oldest dog Roco whom gave me a "what the hell is this look" when I handed him the biscuit...lol

Have a Great Week All

EOTS

With the summer coming to a close, I thought I'd share my End-of-the Summer projects that I plan to get off my sewing table in the next couple of weeks.  My EOTS projects center around garments that I made over the summmer and are some of my favorite pieces.
The EOTS projects include remakes of:

Butterick 4157         Butterick 5606,                 Wrap Dress                       McCalls 6282
Skirt                        Dress                          RTW template                   Drape Neck Top

These are great Summer-to-Fall transitional pieces which I coined double duty garments. Just a matter of swapping out the short sleeve cardigans for bracelet or long sleeves cardigans or blazers.  For the wrap dresses, I will do long sleeves instead of sleeveless and the skirts will also be paired with cardigans/blazer or long sleeve drape neck tops.

Although I have not sewn in 3 weeks, I have been scouring the fabric stores and these few pieces followed me home :)

Abstract knit                  Lightweight Stretch Denim      Geometric knit
 (Virgo Fabrics)               (123 Fabrics )                         (Fabric Sav-a-thon)

Medium weight cable knit  Abstract poly/lycra Knit    Black jacquard poly/cot
(Virgo Fabrics)                     (Fulton Fabrics)                          (123 Fabrics)

Dk. Grey     Grey/blk       Teal Paisley    Graduated           Black Denim
Suiting          Jersey Knit    Poly/lycra     Dots -Poly          Look Knit

If I keep on the straight and narrow, I'm looking forward to a holiday weekend of sewing.

What garments will make your Summer-to-Fall list? or Are you jumping into just sewing Fall garments?

Have an Awesome Holiday
