Tweaking, Altering & TGIF

Happy Friday Everyone and hoping all are looking forward to doing something exciting this weekend.

My week seemed super longer than usual, a heavy workload and hot... and with that I am so looking forward to relaxing this weekend with a mix of sewing.

With Summer in full effect it was time to reassess some garments and a little tweaking/altering. Also, with the temps expected to hover in the 90s and the office in full business casual alert for the summer, I spent last weekend tweaking a few garments as well as a few rtw pieces and thought I would share my outfits of the Week.

Monday's Outfit: Revamped Butterick 5606 last year by removing  the ties and this year I added elastic to the waist and paired it with a black/white blazer that I'd purchased from Sears (Covington) and altered the sleeves from 3/4 to short sleeve.

Tuesday's Outfit: Red/Back wrap dress, tweaked by removing the wrap ties and permanently stitching down the overlay skirt to the under skirt, inserted a casing and 1/2" elastic.... yeah no more ties.  Paired it with another blazer from sears (Metaphor) that was also altered from long sleeves to short sleeves.

Wednesday's Outfit:  McCalls 6744 which I recently made in May, no tweaking to the dress, but again I altered another Covington Blazer by shortening the sleeves

Thursday's Outfit:  New Look 6915, (circa 2010) which I shortened by 1/4" and paired with my yellow slacks (Loft).

Friday's Outfit: Simplicity 1849... I have made at least a 1/2 dozen of these tops.  This one was tweaked from long sleeves to short sleeves and paired with my recently acquired bouquet print pants which I had to hem. (Loft).

Last weekend was very productive and the end result of tweaking, altering & t.werking... was 7 wrap dresses (removing the ties and making them into faux wraps), altered 3 blazers, tweaked 2 blouse and hemmed 1 pair of pants..whew.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND

I do love your short-sleeved blazers. If I wore jackets (I'm a sweater person myself) I would totally go in that direction.

Thanks Faye, the dresses really added a fresh flavor to my wardrobe.

Thanks Carolyn, since I am too lazy to sew jackets, the next best thing is to buy and modify, especially when all criterias are met.. price, fabric, color & fit.

Thanks Lori, last year the ties became a nuisance and finally decided to remove them, and glad I did. I am so in love with the loft linen pants, I also purchased the purple ones too.

I normally am a sucker for anything black and white, with red thrown in of course, but I was especially fond of Wednesday's blue. It just screamed summer, fresh and airy. Don't get me wrong...all week was really nice.

Thank you Myra. Every once in a while its good to revamp a garment to give it new life and if all fails... Chuck it.

Thank you Shelly, definitely try it.

These outfits are just so pretty! Altering those jacket sleeves has to be the best, I never, ever alter anything not even a hem, shameful, I know! As always, I really enjoyed seeing what a well-thougth out wardrobe really looked like! I. Must. Do. Better. Thanks, Sheila, for sharing!

Hello GodsgirlT and Thank you. The T-strap sandal is a croc-embossed dark brown that I purchased some time ago.

Hi Brenda and Thanks. I am not a fan of alterations, but will refashion something for myself with a quickness...lol
