Unethical Dress: Then & Now

Hello All and hoping Everyone had a fabulous Holiday.   I enjoyed myself immensely hanging out with family, good food & spirits.

Now it's back to work and with that another Then & Now post to start the week off.  I know every sewista has a favorite pattern, well for me Butterick 5147 is that pattern.   When I say a favorite pattern its truly a serious love affair.  I have made B5147 (Pattern Review) at least a dozen times over the last 4 years and each dress is unique in its own way.  There is something to be said about wearing dresses....  Simple yet Versatile, Timeless Appeal, Figure Flattering.....

Then 2011

Now 2014

Did I miss something? Why is this dress unethical?

Sheila said...

I coined it unethical when I made it back in 2011, because I should have removed the lining from the fashion fabric once I realize the dress needed darts to fix the gaposis at the neckline.

I think I started using this pattern because of you! I don't have a dozen of these - maybe 6 - but I do have plans to use it for my fall sewing at least once! Love this version of your favorite dress pattern!

Thank you Carolyn. I am definitely looking forward to resurrecting that pattern too.

I pretty much like everything you sew and you have turned me on to some great pattern so this is PERFECT on you. I love the fabric choice and how it fits on you. You always look great!

Thank you Sabrina.

Sheila, like you, this is my favorite dress pattern. It's hard to not use it for all of my jackets as I enjoy the comfort of a dress better than a skirt.

Thank you Dorothy. Nothing like a great pattern.

There's something about this fabric that I really like..and the navy accents are on point. wondering why I don't have this pattern...very nice!

Thank you Terri. The fabric is a cotton blend that I had purchased from Bridge St. Fabrics a few years ago. Its soft & would like to think that ...something... is the 1960s vintage print...lol
