New Look 6341

New Look 6341:  Misses' dress w/ princess seams and scoop back is perfect for any occasion.  Dress can be just above the knee with or w/o lace sleeves, floor length with short sleeves, or sleeveless with floor length hi-low.

Pattern Sizing: 6-18

Fabric Used: floral cotton stretch and medium weight knit for side panels.

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were clear and honestly, briefly looked them over and constructed without looking at them again.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This dress was inspired by my sewing sister Lucy, she made me realize that this silhouette would make a perfect addition to my wardrobe.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Used black contrasting side panels.  The pattern calls for a zipper, but it is not necessary, especially being that I used a stretch cotton, and can be pulled over the head easily.  Adjustments can be easily made with the princess seams as well as the skirt.  I removed two of the pleats from the pattern piece, thereby reducing the fullness of the skirt.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I am currently working on another one and definitely recommend it.

Conclusion: Something new and loving it !

Until then,

Have a Great Weekend.

This is a great silouette on you. Using the black knit panel to color block is a creative idea. Thanks for taking the time to share your sewn wardrobe.

Love it! You look great in this and I love the color blocking. Again, I have purchased this pattern. It never crossed my mind to use color blocking. I also have a question. Did you have to add additional sizing to make up for not putting in the zipper or change the seam allowance or something? Also, did you cut the back on center fold? Thanks, love the dress.

Thank you Faye. I've wanted to try color blocking for some time and decided this would be a great time to try it.

Thank you Enuf Already. Good questions... I initially cut a 16 and ended up removing excess ease from the side seams (3/8" each) and a smidgen (1/4") from the back. Also I cut the back with a center back seam. Once I basted the whole dress together, I then realized the zipper was not need. However, I will not modify the sizing on the pattern pieces yet, definitely want to try it in a woven.

Thank you Dk's Wife. The fabric was purchased during PatternReview 2010 in Philly @ London Textiles.
