Then & Now w/ Butterick 5672

Happy Saturday Everyone !!!

Yes, I am back with another Then 2014 & Now 2017 with Butterick 5672.

Then 2014 (posted about here)

The last week and a half has been a super busy one and ole' girl is tired.  I've attended  women's empowerment luncheons and met with long time friends and I am tiiiiiiired... did I say how tired I am.

It's rare for me to  attend several social events within a short time frame, because I really am an introvert at heart.  However, of late, I have been making an effort to get out more socially.  Did I tell you I am tired.

Despite being tired, I had a great time and met some lovely people and it was good connecting with long time friends.

If one looks at the pattern, it's clear that my version looks totally different. Created my first garment with this pattern back in 2013 and in the midst of, trials & tribulations (posted about here) went against the grain and used just the lining pattern pieces.

This dress has been coined my carnival dress and scored this pretty faux embroidered silk fabric from one of my favorite fabric stores... Virgo Fabrics.  Sadly, it's no longer in business.  It's been a few years, but believe I scored this pretty fabric for $1.00/yd or $1.50/yd.

A few months ago, while in another one of my fabric spots... Fulton Fabrics, I spotted another colorway in green with the same color embroidery, but passed on it.  If I remember, it was $3.00/yd there.

I love simple silhouettes, they are the perfect grab & go garment that can be dressed up or down for a variety of events.  As mentioned in my previous post, I try to focus on buying and sewing seasonless garments, which tend to stand the test of time or better yet I like to coin sustainable fashion.

As a topper to keep warm, I wore a cranberry blazer and luckily had a matching pashmina on hand.  Didn't get a pic of that look because I was running behind on time.  I try to take my pics before leaving out, there has been too many instances wherein, I wait with bated breath to ask someone to take a pic only for the pic to be of me looking weird or the pic is blurry.  Since I have the skills to take my own blurry pics, I've opted to do it before I go out.

With all that said, if one is looking for a simple silhouette, check out Butterick 5672 and go against the grain, you'd be surprise what it yields.

Until then,
Have a Great Weekend !

I love the line about taking your own blurry photos! It made me smile. The dress worked in 2014 and it works now. Love how you're true to your style and what works for you...it's also great to see some pics of professional gear! I miss professional gear! *smile*

I love that fabric, perfect for the simple lines of the dress. I have to say that the first thing I thought was what a great party dress with the streamers and bubbles. Maybe New Years Eve. But it needs to be worn for more than that. And your last picture, your smile is spectacular.

You may be tiiiired but isn't it a GOOD tired? Getting to see old friends, sated from the inspiration and rejuvenation gained from the experience. And, knowing you were looking fly(is that still a term?) in your embroidered carnival dress.
