Fall + Yarn = Sweater

With Fall here, I am determined to get my knitting needles a-clicking. We all know that sweaters are synonymous with big & bulky and only looked at for warming purposes. This season, I'm seeing simple sweater designs paired with blouses adding such pizazz. Check out DVF's v-neck sweater layered over a cute blouse. I can imagine a field day with various outfits that I can mix and match with sweaters.

But over a week ago, I swatched and casted on for the Verena Knitting mag Sleeveless Cable Vest using Needful Yarns Filtes King Kelly. The yarn is 55% cotton & 45% acrylic, a chain-like braiding yarn with a multi-colored combination of gray, beige & sage. I modified it for knitting in the round and also decided I would play with the cables. Well Well Well.... what can I say, it was a bust.... like in rip back the whole 13" of it. After doing 7" of rib knitting... I put it on a life line (using Ms. Crimson Purl's floss technique) and tried it on Ms. Mannequin and thought it was sized right on. With that I continued on and after 13" thought it a good idea to try it on me (its hard to see the pic) but it was too big from the waist up... and to think I casted on for a small size... what happened.... uggh. So, there was only one thing left to do...

Determined to work up this lovely yarn and imagining a cute sweater paired with a cute blouse, I casted on for Verena's V-Neck sweater and stayed true to the pattern instructions to work it flat. What grabbed me about this project is the rev st st, which I'm seeing a lot of for the Fall season.

After swatching, I realized the small would be too big as well and casted on for 86 sts instead of the recommended 96 sts. I've measured the width and its in sync with what I want. So its going well and have started on the front.. ahhh feeling much better.
