Take II on Butterick 4976
Butterick 4976 Dress is below mid-knee and semi-fitted bodice, slightly flared skirt, side zipper, attached contrast or self fabric sash with long ties and seven-eighths or long sleeves.
The first version I used a light weight knit and after scoring my stash found a medium weight knit in a background of charchoal grey with small black squares. I'd purchased this fabric along with a deep apricot with a small houndstooth print and a slate blue print from Sav-a-Thon last year.
I used the slate blue for a top using pattern S2766 and the other fabric will more likely become another 4976.Since I was using a heavier fabric, I opted to go with the same size 12 and it worked out great. The dress fits closer to the body compared to the 1st dress. Again I did not go with the zipper since I was using another knit fabric. Also, I did not attached the sash to the dress wanting the option of switching out to a different sash. I made one sash in the fashion fabric and another one in a red stretch satin. I'm glad I was just making a belt with the satin stretch, it was slipping and sliding all over the place.
Again, I highly recommend this dress, it makes a great transitional garment and can be dressed up or down.
