Simplicity 1355 w/ McCall's 6848
Ok... how should I put this, I have never been the trendy type of gal or tricky trend type either. I spend a considerable amount of time in suits and splatter a dress or skirt/top in the mix. One or two weekends out of the month I take the liberty of stepping out for grocery shopping or such and when I do, I grab a top and jeans.
Did I hear you ask what is a tricky trend? You know the tricky trend type, that garment that just does not fall into any category, its just out there for a fleeting moment, but oddly re-emerge every other decade or two..... nowwwww you know what I'm talking about, crop tops, drop crotch pants, jumpsuits... yeah those.
Well I have been smitten by the latest sightings of jumpsuits via blogisphere and on the New York streets, and honestly truly loving the look. So I have spent the better part of a year.. yes a year ping ponging back and forth over whether I could seriously pull off wearing one. Last year I purchased McCall's 6083, but didn't sew it up and simultaneously reaffirming that it was too tricky of a garment to pull off especially at 50 years old... so I let it go.
Now it's 2014 and noting that the jumpsuit trend is still in effect and purchased two more patterns, Simplicity 1355 and McCall's 6848.
Mother & Daughter Scenario...
Daughter: More patterns... ooooh jumpsuits... nice, but wait ...
Mom: I know, I know
Daughter: ...no hear me out first, I thought you said you would not be caught dead in
one and some such about you being too old for it.
Mom: I know, but that was last year
Daughter: ummm yeah...I remember you texting me and calling me about it...
Mom: You are making it seem like texting and calling you is an epic deal
Daughter: ummm no.... I told you last year that you could wear it
Mom: I don't remember that..
Daughter: Likely not, you seem to have selective reading when it comes to my texts.
Mom: Ok... question for you, do you think I can pull it off
Daughter: Here we go again... Yes Ma. Do me a favor DO IT FOR THE VINE
Mom: I ainnnnnnn't gon do it
Daughter: Do It for the Vine... dang mama you working it like that...
Mom: Oh umm yeah... I just got caught up in the moment... oooo now my back hurts..... lol
End result, a comfortable and effortless all in one outfit
